Challenge Participation Notice

Last updated: July 16, 2026

This notice applies to all AI Film Challenge competitions (“Challenges”). By submitting an entry, you agree to these terms in addition to our general Terms & Conditions.

1. Ownership of Entries

You retain full ownership of your challenge submission and all intellectual property rights to your work. Submitting an entry does not transfer ownership to AI Film Challenge.

2. License to Display and Promote

By submitting an entry to a Challenge, you grant AI Film Challenge a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to:

  • Display your entry on the AI Film Challenge website (aifilmchallenge.com), including on the gallery, leaderboard, and challenge archive pages
  • Feature your entry in newsletters, roundup posts, and promotional emails about the platform
  • Share your entry on AI Film Challenge social media accounts, including but not limited to:
    • YouTube — including compilation videos, winner showcases, and challenge recap videos
    • X (Twitter) — posts featuring entry stills, clips, or links
    • Reddit (r/AIFilmChallenge) — community showcases and discussions
    • Other social platforms as the community grows

All promotional use will include appropriate attribution (your username and/or real name as displayed on your profile). If you wish to have a specific entry removed from social media, contact us and we will take it down.

3. Community Voting & Judging

Entries are judged according to the criteria specified in each Challenge. This may include:

  • Community voting: Registered users may rate entries on rubric categories (e.g., creativity, technical execution, theme adherence). Votes are subject to fraud prevention measures.
  • Panel judging: Some challenges may use a curated panel of judges whose decisions are final. Panel composition will be disclosed in the challenge details.
  • Blind judging: Some challenges may hide submitter identities during the voting period to ensure fairness. This will be indicated in the challenge description.

AI Film Challenge reserves the right to disqualify entries that violate challenge rules, platform terms, or that engage in vote manipulation.

4. Prizes & Recognition

Prizes (if any) will be described in the specific challenge details. AI Film Challenge is not responsible for prize fulfillment by third-party sponsors. Winners are responsible for any taxes or fees associated with prizes. Profile badges are awarded at our discretion and may be revoked if the winning entry is later disqualified.

5. Content Guidelines for Entries

Challenge entries must:

  • Be original work created for the challenge (use of AI tools is expected and encouraged, but the creative direction should be yours)
  • Respect third-party intellectual property — do not submit direct copies of copyrighted works
  • Avoid prohibited content: hate speech, harassment, explicit adult content, or content that violates the law
  • Follow the specific rules, constraints, and deliverables outlined in each challenge

6. Use of AI Tools

AI Film Challenge is a community for filmmakers exploring AI-assisted workflows. The use of AI tools (image generators, video models, LLMs, audio tools, etc.) is encouraged. You should be transparent about the tools and workflows used. Some challenges may constrain or require specific tools — these constraints will be clearly stated in the challenge description.

7. Pre-Launch Video Chats

Challenges may be preceded by a live or recorded video chat where the challenge rules, theme, and expectations are explained and participants can ask questions. These sessions may be recorded and shared on our platforms. By participating in a live chat, you consent to being recorded. Chat recordings are provided for the benefit of participants who could not attend live.

8. Right to Modify or Cancel

AI Film Challenge reserves the right to modify challenge rules, deadlines, or judging criteria before the submission deadline. Changes will be communicated to participants. In the unlikely event a challenge must be cancelled, we will notify all registered participants.
