1. Information We Collect

When you use AI Film Challenge, we may collect:

  • Account information: name, username, email address, and hashed password when you register
  • Profile information: avatar, bio, location, skills, social links, and other optional profile fields you provide
  • User-generated content: workflows, gallery uploads, challenge entries, comments, forum posts, and messages you create
  • OAuth data: if you log in via Google or GitHub, we receive your name, email, and profile ID from those providers
  • Usage data: pages visited, interactions, and technical logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps) via standard server logging

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the platform (display your profile, content, challenge entries)
  • To send notifications about challenges, comments, follows, and platform updates (you can manage notification preferences)
  • To display public leaderboards and challenge results
  • To moderate content and enforce our Terms & Conditions
  • To improve the platform based on usage patterns
  • To respond to support requests and feedback

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

3. Information We Share

We may share your information in limited circumstances:

  • Public profile: Your username, avatar, bio, and public stats are visible to other users
  • Content you post: Workflows, gallery items, challenge entries, comments, and forum posts are publicly visible
  • Challenge entries: Submissions may be featured on our social media channels (with credit) as described in our Challenge Participation Notice
  • Service providers: We use third-party services for hosting (OVH), email delivery, and image storage (Backblaze B2). These providers have limited access necessary to perform their functions
  • Legal compliance: If required by law or to protect our rights

4. Cookies & Local Storage

We use browser local storage to store your authentication token (JWT) for session management. This is required for the platform to function. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies. Our hosting provider may log standard server access data.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data and content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information. Content you have posted (workflows, gallery items) may be retained in anonymized form if they have been forked or incorporated by other users. Challenge entry records may be retained for competition integrity. Server logs are retained for up to 90 days for security and debugging purposes.

6. Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures including hashed passwords (bcrypt), JWT-based authentication, and HTTPS encryption. However, no method of online transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Third-Party Links

The platform may contain links to external sites (YouTube, tool websites, sponsor pages). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. Please review their policies separately.

8. Children’s Privacy

AI Film Challenge is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it.
